What is X.25?
Used extensively in the 1980s for wide area communications X.25 is a high integrity protocol used for packet switching data over a Wide Area Network. Whilst X.25 may be considered a legacy protocol it is still used heavily within certain areas, for example Credit Card transactions.
Today X.25 is used by Utility companies for Remote Telemetry Units (RTUs) as well as remote meter readings for industrial customers. This typically makes use of the Vodafone Paknet UK wide X.25 Radio Pad Network which is used by Retail, Transport and Logistics and Security industries throughout the UK.
GGR Communications and X.25
Although the use of X.25 has diminished since the 1980s it is still an integral part of some business processes, in particular when businesses need to meet industry regulations or make use of particular networks (e.g. Radio PADs).
The number of companies that can offer expertise in X.25 is limited. GGR Communications was founded by three members of ‘Dynatech Communications’, a Global X.25 equipment manufacturer, so there is no company better placed to offer extensive advice about X.25 Networks and equipment.
GGR can offer a host of X.25 services, from consultancy and application design, X.25 products and software through to advising on enabling X.25 on modern Cisco equipment.
X.25 Products
GGR have a partnership with NSGDatacom, and are an exclusive UK distributor, so we can offer a range of X.25 products from Netrix Corporation, TURBO and Dynetcom (formerly Dynatech) product ranges. Netrix, Turbo and Dynetcom product lines are owned by NSGDatacom.
In addition GGR has a bespoke software solution used for the integration of legacy application software with Cisco Network equipment, to help deliver X.25 connectivity over IP Networks.
